Unopened Envelope

Mail services deliver mails to us and are usually wrapped in envelop; usually to protect the content or information in it from intruders. Sometimes we are excited to receive an envelope because we have an idea what is in it; maybe a check of $1000…. Sometimes it’s a bill that is due and has to be paid off. And at other times you have no idea what is in an envelope.  Marriage, a sacred worship can be likened to an envelope. Sometimes you have an idea what to expect and other times you are completely oblivious about it. Marriage is sweet, just like a $1000 note you are expecting to receive. It’s all planned out; am going to invest it, give it to family or buys things for myself. Most times before marriage we have it all planned out, we are going to live in this house, we have these traditions, we pray daily, we go on a walk or we cook weekly. But who knows what can happen to a $1000, it can be stolen, can be given to a friend in need. In short it can be used for completely different ...

Break up your Fallow Ground

Fallow ground is an unprepared land that needs to be plowed to be used. Before farmers plant, they prepare the land that would be used; they would till it, plow it and make it ready for planting. In Matthew chapter 13:1-8, Jesus gave a parable which explicitly illustrated what happens to crops that are spread on unplowed ground. Some fell on stony grounds; some fell among thorns and some fell among the good ground.  When crops are not properly sown, they won’t properly grow. As Christians, God wants us to grow to maturity. In several occasions, God gave warning to the children of Israel to not sow in vain. Jeremiah 4:3 says “For thus saith the Lord to the men of Judah and Jerusalem, break up your fallow ground and sow not among thorns”. God want us to listen with ready hearts, He wants us to fully devote our heart to Him. Do we sometimes read or hear the word of God and just take to heart what we need and is suitable to us? It is His Angel

Acts 12:5-17 Consider the story of Peter and his friends who were praying for him. The Apostles were persecuted by King Herod Agrippa the son of  Aristobulus. At this time, Peter was imprisoned by Herod and the Bible says, “prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for Him”. The church knew Peter had a challenge and they constantly prayed for him without ceasing. Prayed while they were eating, doing their daily activities. In fact, the issue of Peter was in their heart and mind every time; without ceasing. Well God did answer their prayers and delivered Peter from the Prison. The angel of God led Peter out of the prison into the streets where he was safe. He came to the house of Mary, the mother of John where many were gathered praying for him. He knocked and Rhonda a damsel who knew Peter’s voice; maybe from his preaching or praying to the congregation refused to open the door. The Christmas story A story we all like to share, a story that happened and has been told over time. A story that was prophesized a long time ago. A story some think is a fable and some still expecting it to happen. Mary a young virgin, who might have been told of the prophesy by her parents or heard of the story or it is possible that Mary had no idea of this Christmas story at all, as it was not prophesized in her time. The Christmas story came, and Mary was chosen because she was pure and righteous before God. An angel appeared to her and said she would conceive and bear a son of the Holy Spirit, Mary didn’t refuse and instead with a humble heart began to expect her Messiah.  Joseph a just man, espoused to Mary was told by an angel that his fiancée is with child before they came together. Humility As a young child, I was brought up by my parents to respect elders. My Nigeria heritage; what my parents taught me, how I saw others in my communities and church behaved, all were reinforcements of good behavior. Is humility greeting the elderly, staying at the last row in a party, not talking at the same time an elder is speaking, giving preference to your parents, and even to your peers. These are all good behaviors to enforce a good character that is unfortunately being rapidly eroded in our society today. However, humility goes beyond having good character and has more deeper meaning. Humility starts with seeing ourselves as God sees us; I mean admitting oneself as sinner that need to repent and plead for forgiveness of sins. It is only then we can possess the true humility that comes from God. It is an attribute of God that no one outgrows.  Humility is a powerful tool that every Christian should have. Appreciation

Appreciation, a word often underrated; to be thankful for food, roof above my head, that I can walk, I can talk, I sleep at night and wake up the next day. This same word is being proactively used when I get a car as a gift, scholarships for school or even a Christmas gift. Do we only thank God, families, friends, and colleagues for the great and mighty things they’ve done for us and underrate the wonderful little things? I am thankful to God for the day to day experience, for the people He brings my ways, for the good and the bad.  I am thankful for families. Have you ever imagined what your life would be like without your current family? How the answers would differ, Oh, I wish I had a different family, my life wouldn’t be sad.  Or am grateful for the family I have because they are everything to me and support me in all I do. Imagine

Imagine Imagine what the Millennial Reign would be like, with all its glory. What it would be like; we can’t even imagine it all. The song “I can only imagine” always make me tearful and be grateful to God that I can’t even imagine it all. When we are surrounded by His glory and see Him face to face and worship Him forever and ever. Isaiah prophesized “the eyes of the blind will open, the deaf will hear, the lame will walk, sicknesses would be cured. Water will break out of the wilderness and desert and no land will be parched regardless of the location. The wolf and the lamb will eat grass and a young child will lead them.  It will be a reign of peace; the devil would be bound (Revelation 20:2 &3) and cast into the bottomless pit. All the people will worship Jesus and the saints would be co-Judges with our Savior.
