Mail services deliver mails to us and are usually wrapped in envelop; usually to protect the content or information in it from intruders. Sometimes we are excited to receive an envelope because we have an idea what is in it; maybe a check of $1000…. Sometimes it’s a bill that is due and has to be paid off. And at other times you have no idea what is in an envelope.
Marriage, a sacred worship can be likened to an envelope. Sometimes you have an idea what to expect and other times you are completely oblivious about it. Marriage is sweet, just like a $1000 note you are expecting to receive. It’s all planned out; am going to invest it, give it to family or buys things for myself. Most times before marriage we have it all planned out, we are going to live in this house, we have these traditions, we pray daily, we go on a walk or we cook weekly. But who knows what can happen to a $1000, it can be stolen, can be given to a friend in need. In short it can be used for completely different reasons it was intended for. In any case you are using the money.
Marriage can be awesome, and you have this idea of how it’s going to be and excited for it. You become one, one space, parenting responsibility, money, personal time, highs and low. However you don’t know what lies in it. The bible says a man shall leave his mother and his father and shall cleave to his wife. You don’t know what to expect, couples are filled with anxiety of what to expect from each other. Are we going to love each other till the end? Are we going to be the happy family with no fights? Is she or he going to love me regardless? Do we forgive each other when we need to? Do we encourage each other when we are discouraged? Well we can’t answer that, because no one knows. It is a sacred union that is filled with challenges of life.
An awesome marriage that is built on the love of God will still have challenges, heartaches, love, peace, think of it. I am in no way telling you that marriage is bad, instead, it is sacred union, an unopened envelop. That is why we need God to be the foundation of our life and our marriage, you can’t know it all. It takes the grace and love of God to help us. Build your marriage on God’s love because that is what will help you overcome challenges of life.
Lastly, Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock. (Matthew 7:24)
