Fallow ground is an unprepared land that needs to be plowed to be used. Before farmers plant, they prepare the land that would be used; they would till it, plow it and make it ready for planting. In Matthew chapter 13:1-8, Jesus gave a parable which explicitly illustrated what happens to crops that are spread on unplowed ground. Some fell on stony grounds; some fell among thorns and some fell among the good ground. When crops are not properly sown, they won’t properly grow. As Christians, God wants us to grow to maturity. In several occasions, God gave warning to the children of Israel to not sow in vain. Jeremiah 4:3 says “For thus saith the Lord to the men of Judah and Jerusalem, break up your fallow ground and sow not among thorns”. God want us to listen with ready hearts, He wants us to fully devote our heart to Him. Do we sometimes read or hear the word of God and just take to heart what we need and is suitable to us?
